  Chalet L'Avant Poste

This beautiful chalet was built in 2002 in the traditional Savoyade style, and benefits from a spacious contemporary interior. Its location makes it ideal not only for skiing or snowboarding holidays but also for a host of summer activities including walking, climbing, mountain biking, parapenting and rafting to name a few! At an altitude of 1220 metres and with stunning views of the Mont Blanc mountain range, L'Avant Poste is a snowballs' throw from the Maison Neuve chairlift, and is at the start of the renowned "Mont Blanc Trail", well-known to hikers all over the world. In case the outdoor activities aren't enough to keep you busy, we also provide a small library of books, videos and DVDs, and a comprehensive collection of PS2 games! Many guests appreciate the convenience of being able to ski back to the chalet for lunch, and those with youngsters have commented how economical this can be.

  Accommodation

On the top floor there is a double bedroom and two twin rooms. The double room and one of the twins have doors that open onto a balcony with superb views of the Aiguille de Midi. There is also a bathroom with a full sized bath with shower over (with a rigid shower screen rather than a shower curtain), heated towel rail, sink and loo. The full sized bath means that it is possible to have a proper "soak" after a hard day hiking or on the piste!

The open plan living/dining area has two double patio doors leading onto a balcony that spans three sides of the chalet, and we provide outdoor furniture to allow our guests to take advantage of the beautiful views and the sunshine. The living area is equipped with a flat screen TV on which you can view UK terrestrial TV, a DVD player, a music centre with integrated docking stations for most iPods and a highly efficient wood burning stove. The chalet is fully centrally heated but you may want to turn the heating down or off when you light this fire!

The open plan kitchen on the same floor is very well equipped, with a full size oven, induction hob, large fridge with freezer compartment, microwave/grill, sink and dishwasher, plus a slow cooker, fondue set and raclette kit, in addition to all the kitchen utensils and equipment that you are likely to need during your stay.

Next to the guest loo on the same floor is an open staircase leading down to a utility area with a washing machine and tumble dryer - very handy for reducing the amount of clothes that you take on holiday with you!

From here a door leads you through into an area with a further bathroom with shower, heated towel rail, loo and sink, and next to this is a very spacious bedroom with two single beds (that can be made into a double) plus a sofa bed with further pull-out bed under. This room also benefits from a further TV, video player and PS2. We've recently added to the games collection which now numbers over 30! Many guests find this room ideal for youngsters to amuse themselves in whilst the adults relax upstairs in front of the fire with a glass or two of wine.

Finally, we've mentioned the view once or twice, but it really has to be seen to be believed. Quite often at sunset the mountains are suffused with a pink glow that is both breathtaking and transient. You need to have the camera ready!
