Chamonix is well known
for its high mountains, spectacular scenery and exciting outdoor activities
and we are sure that you will not be disappointed. |

Situated near the head
of the Chamonix Valley, close to the Mont Blanc Tunnel that leads to Italy,
and close to the Swiss border, Chamonix is ideally placed for discovering
the Alps. It is a thriving, bustling town steeped in tradition, with many
excellent restaurants and bars, offering a warm and friendly welcome. The
town offers many activities in addition to skiing and, with a fantastic
sunshine record, is a great place to relax and watch the world go by. |

Les Houches is an
attractive traditional village with a very pretty lake with course fishing.
It boasts a string of restaurants and bars and has two supermarkets. There
is a village church, post office and a very helpful Tourist Office, all
located near the Mairie (Town Hall). Once a week there is a local market
and Chamonix is about a 10 minute drive away. Leisure activities in the
village also include climbing, a childrens' adventure tree trail, a childrens'
play area and tennis. |

 |
|
| |
It is possible to walk
to Les Houches from Chalet L'Avant Poste however the return journey is all
uphill! For this reason we do recommend having a car available during your
stay. |
